We are committed to being a Child Safe Organisation acting in accordance with:

• Children and Community Services Act 2004 (WA) 

• Working with Children (Screening) Act 2004 (WA) 

We strive to ensure every child feels safe, respected, heard, and protected from harm by adhering to the following practices: 

• Embedding child safety in our leadership, culture, and everyday practices 

• Enforcing strict recruitment, including mandatory Working with Children Checks and National police clearances 

• Training all employees in child protection and mandatory reporting  

• Assessing and managing risks to children in all environments and activities 

• Promoting child participation and encouraging children to speak up 

• Creating culturally safe, inclusive environments for all children 

• Responding swiftly and confidentially to concerns or disclosures 

REED’s Child Safe Organisation Committee provides support and continuous improvement to ensure child safety is consistently upheld. 

The committee’s key responsibilities include: 

• Promoting a culture of child safety across all levels of REED 

• Regularly Reviewing and overseeing child safe policies and procedures 

• Monitoring compliance with legislation and WWC checks 

• Overseeing incident reporting and mandatory reporting processes 

• Analysing risks and emerging trends and implementing prevention strategies 

• Conducting risk assessments and safety audits 

• Sourcing training and development to ensure ongoing employee confidence and competence in child-safe practices 

• Providing advice and guidance to employees on safeguarding obligations 

• Engaging with children, families, and communities, ensuring their input shapes safety strategies.
